David Tillman: The Educator
In 2003 , David felt a special desire to go into the schools and work with youth in a direct and consistent way. In only his second year in the classroom, he was named Teacher of the Year by his colleagues as fellow teachers, parents, principals, and superintendents fell in love with David’s “high respect, high expectation, high achievement” approach to classroom management. Soon he began collaborating with colleagues to develop learning environments in which students flourish. In the years since, he has had the opportunity to share his passion and experience with hundreds of educators throughout North Carolina and beyond.
David presently works as the Lead Behavioral Support Specialist for Harnett County Schools, one of the fastest growing rural school districts in North Carolina. Combining his time in his current position with his years in both regular and special education settings as a teacher assistant and classroom teacher, David has—in a relatively brief period—gained a wealth of experience fostering supportive learning environments for the whole spectrum of student development, literally from toddlers to teens.
